Kitchen Staples

The following is a list of staple items that I keep in my kitchen. If you have most of these items, you can throw together a meal in no time without a trip to the grocery store.

unsweetened cocoa powder
pure vanilla extract
soy sauce
bread crumbs
peanut butter
chocolate chips
nuts
raisins

SPICE RACK
black pepper
cayenne pepper
crushed red pepper
chili powder
paprika
ground cumin
bay leaves
ground cinnamon
ground nutmeg
basil
thyme
italian seasoning
seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay
parsley

FRIDGE
milk
butter
eggs
parmesan cheese
ketchup
mayonnaise
mustard
plain fat-free yogurt

FREEZER
frozen fruit
frozen vegetables

This reminds me. In the newest issue of Parents magazine there is a link to a website where you can put in what ingredients you have on hand, and it will link you to recipes that include only those foods. I'll add the link to the sidebar asap.

Oh, and I'd also add to the Freezer list-boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs and ground beef.

The Betty Crocker website has something similar. It doesn't come up with recipes using ONLY those ingredients, but things that contain a lot of those items.
